Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a separate bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and fully combined.
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat it into a circle about 1-inch thick.
Using a sharp knife or a pastry cutter, cut the dough into 8 equal wedges. Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
While the scones are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Once the scones are done baking, allow them to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
Drizzle the prepared glaze over the cooled scones and allow to set before serving.
Notes
These scones can be customized with chocolate chips, nuts, or dried cranberries for added flavor.
