Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the active sourdough starter, warm milk, and melted butter. Stir until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, followed by the egg. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 4-6 hours or until it has doubled in size.
While the dough is rising, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Turn it out onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter and evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the surface. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls cut side up in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cover the rolls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for an additional 30-60 minutes, or until puffy.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing by whisking together powdered sugar, a splash of milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Once the rolls are out of the oven, allow them to cool slightly before drizzling the icing on top. Serve warm and enjoy!
