Softened, crucial for melt-in-your-mouth texture.
1
teaspoon
Vanilla extract
Adds depth to the flavor profile.
1/2
cup
Chocolate chips
For added chocolate punch, use semisweet or dark.
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy.
Mix in the vanilla extract until evenly distributed.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed butter, mixing on low speed until just combined.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula.
Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls, placing them on the prepared baking sheet.
Flatten each ball slightly using the bottom of a glass.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until edges are firm but centers are still soft.
Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar if desired, or enjoy plain.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Dough can be refrigerated for up to three days before baking.
